Address: 4-14 Dunster Street, Northampton

The late 1800’s shoe and leather works factory once provided work and jobs to 1000’s of people from Northamptonshire. During 1885 the GT Hawkins factory produced boots for the Queen, earning it the highest honour of that era, the Royal Warrant. The factory produced aviation boots and supplied our war efforts during the First World War and carried suit into the Second World War – The new age design of these followed on to be developed into walking boots which were supplied, in 1953 to the first team to successfully ascent Mount Everest. In 1982 the Hawkins factory supplied British Troops fighting in the Falklands and after 120 years of trading, in 1995, the Hawkins factory finally closed.

Our vision is to regenerate this iconic factory into 39 apartments and allow the Hawkins factory to continue giving to the Northamptonshire area. As we are extremely proud of the history of our factory, we will endeavour to retain and refurbish as many historical elements as possible to ensure the history of this local landmark remains.

This historic Grade II listed property will once again sit proudly in its prominent position within the Northampton town community.
