Community Statement
OEH Group believes that everyone affected by a construction project should be protected from nuisance, danger, and pollution. Regardless of whether a project lasts for several months or only a few weeks, OEH is committed to keeping disruption to an absolute minimum. No two construction sites are identical, but there are two standard commitments that we make to the community:
– All works will be carried out with the utmost care for the safety of our operatives and the general public
- Regular inspections of the site exterior will be made to ensure it remains clean, tidy, and free of obstructions
These two expectations are common to all construction sites, but this is only the starting point for OEH. Other factors, including site location and the type of works taking place, will call for additional mitigation strategies and these will vary from project to project. A site near to a busy shopping street may require a gantry to avoid disrupting shoppers and business owners, while a site in a built-up residential area may require restrictions as to when deliveries can be made.
There is no “one size fits all” solution when it comes to property development and construction, but no matter the site, we take all necessary action to avoid inconveniencing our neighbours.
Feedback
OEH welcomes any and all feedback from the community. At the very minimum, we provide a community feedback box and display the name and contact number of the Site Manager on the hoarding.
Whenever possible, we also keep up a regular dialogue with residents, businesses, schools, and any other interested parties throughout the project to keep them informed about site activity.
Our goal is to create our own foundation in the future. Contact us today if you wish to get involved and support us with this mission.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
By its very nature, property development leaves a permanent mark on the world and this is a responsibility OEH takes seriously. We manage the direct environmental impact of our activities in various ways, most notably by taking a role in the design stages of a project whenever possible. This way, we ensure that environmental considerations are taken into account from the very beginning and that decisions on long-term sustainability are made long before construction starts. Once works are underway, we set environmental targets in accordance with national guidelines and put management systems in place to monitor the site performance and the factors that influence it.
Site Impact Reports
Our Site Managers complete a weekly site impact report, this records the electric, water, and gas usage on the site, as well as emissions generated by site traffic. We monitor these reports carefully so that any problem areas can be addressed as quickly as possible. If we notice that a site’s environmental targets are being consistently missed, we conduct a full review of site procedures to identify where improvements can be made.
Site Waste Management Plans
As required by the Environmental Agency, OEH establishes a detailed Site Waste Management Plan to ensure that unnecessary wastage is kept to a minimum and that all our operatives are aware of the correct disposal procedures.
Waste Management Plans are developed in collaboration with a professional environmental consultant. Based on a thorough assessment of the site and project, the environmental consultant will make a detailed forecast of the quantities likely to occur in each waste stream. This allows us to then decide on the most efficient disposal strategy and keep track of our overall performance against the Site Waste Management Plan.
All site operatives are made aware of the Site Waste Management Plan during their inductions, and the Site Manager is responsible for ensuring the appropriate waste disposal procedures are followed.

Wherever possible we choose manufacturers who have achieved the BRE Standard, BES 6001 which promotes responsible sourcing of construction products.
To reduce our carbon footprint, we source heavy materials such as concrete, bricks, and blocks from manufacturers in the local area and wherever possible extend this to our other suppliers and subcontractors.
We attempt to limit the quantity of waste produced and sent to landfill, this can be achieved in a number of ways including ordering correct quantities, reducing packaging, and recycling waste materials.

We strive for continuous improvement in our standards and aim to achieve a safe, risk-free working environment. We have produced a comprehensive Health and Safety Policy and all management and site staff receive full training, which is constantly monitored and updated, and refresher courses undertaken. As a company we expect our employees, subcontractors, and suppliers to comply with our Health and Safety Policy and to take individual responsibility to ensure that work is carried out to a high standard, without risk to themselves or others. Our environmental commitments are integral to the daily running of our business. Our aims to increase recycling, minimise waste, reduce our carbon footprint, and efficiently manage our business are just the start of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact.
Our Environmental Policy provides the backbone to our commitments and is communicated to all our employees to ensure its success. Training is provided and regular updates are given to keep up with the latest research and findings. The policy is reviewed annually and our objectives measured. The targets set within the policy are reviewed and reported on regularly to make sure we are providing the necessary resources to meet them.
The use of sustainable methods in construction is something we have been implementing for a number of years. We have a wealth of experience with sustainable technology such as exhaust air heat recovery and rainwater harvesting.

We insist on complete transparency in all areas including cost, quality, delivery, and problem-solving, our supply chain partners are obliged to gain and demonstrate commitment and understanding relating to these criteria.
Established procurement procedures provide value for money.
Once we are satisfied that bids are compliant we ask our subcontractors and suppliers for alternatives as part of our value engineering exercise. These proposals are discussed with the project team to verify their acceptability.
Close working relationships enable us to provide the quality demanded by our customers. These relationships form the basis of our partnerships that provide customers with consistent quality and performance.
All subcontractors and suppliers are pre-qualified under our QMS procedures. Partnering takes this process a stage further ensuring effective three-way communication and interaction.
Regular meetings held between all stakeholders, including key supply chain partners keep everyone informed and concurrent and allow value engineering initiatives and exchange of ideas resulting in ownership of project delivery being spread throughout the team, enhancing respect for each member’s role.
